GO SEE IT OH MY GOD.

Anna is awesome, Elsa is amazing, the music is breathtaking, the visuals are stunning, the story is affecting (I cried in distress and happiness!), it totally upsets fairy tale expectations in the best ways, the funny sidekick characters are tolerable, and it's a story about love and fear and power where not one but two women get to have these things.

I don't want to spoil anyone, and I know a fair few people have feminist issues with Disney (I can be one of them), but this movie is worth it.  Especially if you have young girls, and even better, sisters, this movie says some really important things that many Disney/princess/fairy tale stories aimed at this age group either do terribly or gloss over.

It's wonderful for all the best reasons.


(I really really disliked the short that comes first, though.  Be warned.)

My sister -- who has two daughters about the same age difference that she and I have -- called me to gush about how I needed to see the movie because SISTERS.

Then she pretty shortly thereafter told me that she had to get off the phone because her kids were demanding her attention and thought she had been on the phone with me long enough. There is SOME kind of irony there about kids failing to internalize the message of the movie ("TELL THEM YOUR SISTER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN YOUR LIFE!") Which I just thought was funny.

But yay, I'm hearing lots of good stuff and I hope to get a chance to see it in theaters.

Yeah, I have heard from a lot of women with sisters that it is a very SISTERS movie.

Even though I don't have sisters, I loved it. It's amazing.

Is it different enough from "The Snow Queen" that it won't hurt my brain? >.> I want to see it but knowing that they took one of my favorite fairy tales and took out most of it is just confusing.

It's pretty much not the Snow Queen at all. They basically took the idea of someone with winter/snow/ice powers and ran with it. Divorce it from any idea of the original.

It is marvelous. Just totally different. (mostly)

Awesome. I will try to see it at some point. I'm not much of a movie watcher XD
