This broadcast is coming to you from a library computer, because my laptop has decided that, while it can turn on and start, it does not want to do anything else once the desktop appears.  Including shut down.  So it's basically a lump of plastic sitting at my desk while I run around doing work and holiday things and try to find the time (which I know will likely be several hours all at once) to get on the phone with tech support and make them figure out what's wrong.

Unlike last time, I unfortunately don't have everything backed up--I've been planning to buy an external hard drive but hadn't rustled up the funds for it yet.  After this, whether I can save everything on the laptop or not, I'm eating ramen for as long as it takes to buy one.  My life is on my laptop and losing it for the stupidity of not having backed it up is just idiotic.

In the meantime, have a wonderful holiday (whichever suits you!), everyone!
