Submitting!

Don't hold your applause! I'm finally submitting short stories again!
Due to the whole new-job-new-state THING, I have not been submitting short stories recently. Also, not having a laptop contributed (all my writing files are trapped in compressed backup. I did not plan to be without a laptop for this long--there's a story there, but I won't tell specifics because I think badmouthing people is tacky, even when people=giant corporations who cancelled my order twice without telling me. Don't worry, I've taken my money elsewhere).
Thankfully, however, I do have access to a computer, even if it isn't mine, and in the time since I moved I've written, re-written, gotten edited and now submitted a short story!
Writing up a new cover letter that included the phrase: "My short story "Well Enough" appears in the fantasy anthology Sword and Sorceress XXV." also rocked.
The story's not much--1,500 words pared down from 2k, probably not up to market standards given how fast the turnaround was compared to my usual year-and-change for short stories, but I was getting antsy. Going so long without submitting anything makes me twitch (though not as much as going without writing does--you'll note I didn't).
Also! I expect to recieve my copy of said fantasy anthology within a week! There will be a post when I do.
(PS: Went to midnight showing of HP. Transcript of silly things that happen when you leave a theater full of fans unattended for an hour and a half while they wait for their movie will follow when I dig up my notes.)

Date: 2010-11-21 04:40 am (UTC)Luck with the new piece! I'm
alwaysusually more optimistic about shorter stories, since publications that pay by the word are more likely to take a chance on a shorter piece.I approve of your current location.
