I KNOW. tumblr is a magical land of craziness. As far as I can tell, what happened was someone made an offhand comment that he looked a bit like a DC villain, then challenged a tumblr artist to draw it, and the drawing of him-as-villain The Knitter sparked everything else off.
I may have searched the tag and then spend four hours I should've been sleeping reading and giggling madly until I got to the end of the tag.
