My Day and My Book
This afternoon was the AFTERNOON OF E-MAIL.
Had a meeting this morning, had an awesome lunch with my co-workers, got back to my desk at 1. Spent the next two and a half hours exchanging frantic e-mail, replying to e-mail, cancelling and then un-cancelling a meeting (via e-mail), setting up another meeting (also via e-mail), and did I mention writing e-mail?
Today I ordered my book! I know, it's weird, my contract was not industry-standard. I get royalties but no contributor's copy--and y'know, I'm okay with that! It might take a year or two for my little short story's royalties to earn back the price I paid for a copy of the book, but that's okay. Besides, I DID have the page proofs--before my laptop died--so I guess I sort of had a contributor's copy. It was just electronic instead of physical.
I AM PUBLISHED IN A BOOK PEOPLE CAN GO TO THE STORE AND BUY, and this is still a total high for me. Week of win!
